Ricoh Singlex TLS – c 1967

This camera/lens combination weighs two and a quarter pounds or 1.02 kilograms. It’s a formidable beast from the days of cheap gasoline.  Simple and workmanlike, the Singlex was built to last. It accepts M42, screw mount lenses. My TLS’s match-needle system doesn’t work because there ain’t a battery in the camera. I don’t need no stinkin’ meter.

If you’ve made it this far through my website, you’re probably an old camera person. If not, try to imagine cameras that have lenses you screw on. No fancy mounts with contacts that allow your lens to talk to your camera. No fancy price tags. Just a piece of glass that relies on the photographer to determine parameters. Imagine.
