Kodak Hawkeye Flash – 1950 -1961 As common as a moustache, the Hawkeye documented the lives of millions of families.

Americans like to take pictures of their Christmas trees. I’ve got a number of pictures of them in my photo albums. We spend an hour decorating the tree and plug in the lights to drive back the winter gloom. It’s a scene worth documenting.

These kids are truly fired up about Christmas. The smile on that boy on the left is genuine. The photographer didn’t have to tell him to smile. There are miniature cars, a dump truck and a game of “Twister” on the couch. There’s more stuff under the tree, too.

Nobody’s gonna get that rifle away from him ! I hope he never had to use a real one.

The box next to the tree contains a pair of waterproof boots from Aunt Mary. I doubt the kid in the bathrobe is beaming about getting those boots. Aunt Mary probably gave him the bathrobe, too.

He’s far more juiced about the Green Ghost Game behind him. His sister wants to go to  U.N.C. I guess.

Pure joy
