Few cameras have enjoyed a greater cult following than The Diana and her many sisters. Rarer variants commanded hundreds of dollars at one time.

Alas, the digital camera has all but killed the toy film camera market.

The Diana was given away as a premium at gas stations if you filled your tank. Other businesses gave them away too. Buy a hammer, get a camera.

There was NO quality control so the cameras were never really taken seriously, until they were discovered by “art” photographers. Their light leaks, horribly lumpy lenses, laughable pressure plates and bogus film advance mechanisms produced unpredictable results.

But, if you found one that was predictably awful, it was possible make really interesting images with a Diana. They used 120 film and made 16 4.5×6 cm images. I miss using mine. The images it produced fit the way I see the world.

Forgive me if I don’t include any technical notes. What’s the use ?
